Workflows and Statuses

Everyone loves a status!

Whether it is ticking off things as "Done" or the classic "RAG" (red, amber green) a status provides an immediate insight into where you are on the work you are doing.

And in some situations, multiple statuses can be really useful to indicate additional information.

Give them a colour and your list of work really starts to come to life.

In Flowzone, clients use statuses a lot!

So, what about workflow steps?

Our workflow steps are very similar to a status.

You can choose what steps you want and give them a colour.

There is a key difference though.

With a status you can move from any status to any other.

With a workflow step you can provide a flow so that the options that you have available from one step are only those that make sense from a process perspective.

If you are working with a small team and everyone knows that process that may not be an issue - simply use statuses.

But if you are working with people who don't necessarilly know what they are supposed to do, steps give them options that are going to make sense.

And stops them making mistakes.

So upgrading your statuses to steps can really help turn your work from a simple list to a process that works.

Not only that each step can be assigned to a particular person within a team.

More on that in an artiicle coming soon.
